Device and Data Security Procedures

Maintaining the strictest confidentiality and security of hospital administrative data and patient records and information is a core operating procedure for AUXILIO. Our full-time, on-site hospital teams are highly trained to control the print environment of hospitals by vetting any and all devices and equipment for network protection, local device access and user authentication, data encryption and document protection.

Working exclusively in the health care industry, AUXILIO understands more clearly than other MPS providers the vital need to abide by the mandates of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) regarding the disposal and recordkeeping of hardware and software for electronic protected health information (ePHI). Our program is fully compliant with the stipulations of the regulations and we work in strategic partnership with our customers to design the most comprehensive and safest methods and techniques to secure devices and data. Our vendor neutral business model means that we conduct routine and regular checks on the full range of equipment under our control and our independent research department performs investigations on equipment manufacturers’ compliance with HIPAA and HITECH to ensure that all equipment under the auspices of our company is aligned with the regulatory requirements for health care facilities and conforms to the standards held by our customers.

In addition to technology, AUXILIO utilizes our specialized staff to assure a secure print environment is maintained over time. Such efforts include on-going end-user education and training on procedures and use of secure print features, as well as the steps that assure that all data is wiped from equipment at the time of disposal or replacement. This is especially important when dealing with older legacy equipment without advanced security features which is an area of our expertise as the pioneer for managed print services in health care.
